The JOSHUA GGOD has a simple modern fitout, reflecting that of a competent ocean going, high latitude live- aboard cruising yacht for a couple with occasional guests. A simple internal/external steering system and companionway observation bubble hatch, five watertight compartments and incredible strength sets her apart from any other production yacht. The following specification is as delivered from the ASBOAT factory in Izmir Turkey for the Standard Base Purchase Price. (specifications may change).

Build Specification   

Plasma cut steel kit used. 5mm and 6mm Hull Plate, 3mm Deck plate, 100mm x 5mm full frames, 4000KG Iron ballast. Keel 24mm heel shoe plate and 8mm keel side plates, 500 ltrs Fuel in two keel tanks and 350 ltr water in two keel tanks with large inspection ports, forward and aft bilge sumps. Over engineered steel plate removable rudder and bearings, with trim tab self-steering pivots and bearing materiel fitted to trailing edge of rudder to fit trim tab. Main mast Chainplates steel with SS Inserts for all rigging, Heavy Bulwark chain plates for Mizzen standing rigging. Keel stepped masts. Two manufactured Aluminium WT doors with secure windows. Half Pipe 5cm SS Rub Rail welded at Deck line around hull and 2.5cm SS pipe cap on gunwale. Anode attachments welded to hull. SS pulpit and aft rail solar panel rails and stanchions all bolted into/onto welded mountings. All deck gear screwed onto welded SS deck plates (no through bolting).


2. Paint
– All steel construction materials (blasted and immediately shop primer epoxy painted)
– All outside and inside surfaces 2 layers anti-corrosion epoxy painting (one high build) and 2 layers bottom.
– Underwater surfaces additional layers antifouling epoxy paints.
– Nonslip paint on superstructure surface.
– Hull fairing with epoxy compound above waterline.
– Final coating polyurethane paint above waterline.

3. Hull fitout
Cabin is sprayed with foam (Or alternate insulation) after wiring conduits set. Fitout is
simple, uncomplicated, strong with good handholds, Book shelves etc White laminex/formica faced
marine plywood with simple teak/or timber trim and handholds. Dinette table drops to double bed.
Upholstery commercial standard pleated or shaped. Plywood laminated timber sole with inspection ports. Removable vinyl/ply Head liner, foam backed Vinyl covered Plywood with timber trims. All locker doors, storage and any draws are simple trimmed marine plywood, efficient, reliable and modern looking. Bookshelves in timber, Main athwart ship bulkheads foam backed Vinyl or timber veneer. All window and hatch frames timber. Headliner vinyl foam backed light colour.

4. Galley/Head.
Double Sink, salt and fresh whale foot pumps with shut valve (Pressure system optional) and Origo alcohol 2 burner stove/oven, 12V water cooled Top Loading Freezer and vertical fridge under chart table. Head with Lavac Pump out toilet with two-way valve for bilge suction or SW suction. 50 Ltr polypro holding tank in Fwd cabin. Head Sink with Fresh Water Whale Foot Pump and two-way valve to suck from bucket for shower and a full Fibreglass head sole wet liner to allow use as a shower draining water to forward FG Bilge sump box. (Engine 240V hot water system and 12v pressure water system priced as optional item)

5. Deck Gear.
Manship SS hatches, SS frame windows 8MM glass seven opening and 12 fixed SS frame and Glass, Four Harken winches in cockpit. 5 mm EVA deck Foam on cockpit lockers. SS stanchions, pushpit, pulpit, removable Stainless steel Bowsprit. Two genoa sheet tracks with two cars, staysail track two cars, electric/ manual vertical anchor winch for 10mm chain. SS. Bent tube removable Bow Sprit. 60 x 60 Foredeck & 50 x 37 skylight hatches and one 34 x 20 head hatch raised 15cm off deck on angled pods, 50 x 50 aft cabin hatch. Six SS Deck bollards and one SS king post, Bent SS ROD split fairleads, bow stern and mid-ship, Stern fairleads to accommodate large towing warp in line with aft bollards. Removable SS Pulpit, four SS Cabin hand rails & 4 Fibre Glass cabin top dorade boxes and SS Cowl vents, plus one over Galley. Goiot type inside/outside steering wheel set up to aft tiller external ropes. Full width cockpit WT deck lockers under port cockpit seats right across to hull with opening drains into cockpit and across aft end of cockpit. Twin Anchor rollers to hold 60lb CQR on primary and hold 100 mtrs, 10mm chain in Self Draining Anchor locker. Below deck WT anchor locker hatch. One SS deck rope reel for 15mtr chain & 100-meter large dia. anchor/towing warp forward of mainmast. Secure mount for 6 man SOLAS life raft just forward of cabin.  Opening then sliding acrylic BUBBLE companionway hatch. Below deck 50 x 37 access hatch into aft compartment with opening drain into aft cabin.

6. Mast/spars.
Sparcraft or Selden mast and rig package. Dyform standing rigging, all standard running rigging, Flag halyard, double mainsheet and mizzen sheet, vang and lazy-jacks supplied. Mast and boom specs to Southern Ocean standard with external link plates, upper and lower continuous Cap shrouds, twin main backstays and running backstays. Mizzen running backstays. Separate Trysail track. One running pole on adjustable mast track. Mast steps to main and mizzen. All mast winches and four cockpit winches with four handles. Masthead LED try-colour, Anchor and deck lights. Echomax radar reflector, Windex.. Profurl headsail reefing system on outer forestay.

7. Engine.
Hardware and piping items certified fit for purpose and in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. 54 HP 4JH5E Yanmar & gear box and shaft drive Flex mounts and coupling with 35mm SS shaft in SS stern tube, dripless seal and stern bearings, three blade fixed prop ( credit available for owner supply folding prop)…Engine AGM 100amp start battery in FRP box. Dual Racor pre-filter Secure efficient sound insulation on Plywood enclosure with best access all around engine. Closing ER air-out Vent in aft cockpit with Blower. Engine air into engine box through aft cabin via dorade vents.

8. Plumbing.
Pumps Whale Double action MK5 below deck with suction two-way valve for main and engine Bilge. Whale Gusher 10 manual in Cockpit to main bilge. One RULE 3600 electric pump with non-return valve in main Bilge and another in the separate engine bilge. All Hoses to be certified fit for purpose and non-perforated hose clamps used throughout. Opening valve to drain forward WT
compartment to main Bilge. SS through hulls and all SS Valves.

9. Electrical.
12V and 220, 500 amp AGM House batteries in Fibreglass vented box, All electrical components marine rated, tinned wire and instruments to be hardened for water down below. Water resistant switchboard box with waterproof door. All simple LED interior lights, red/white, Quality Led Nav lights and mizzen deck and spreader lights, DC Battery/Volts/Amps In-Out-Total monitoring system and backup VOLT meter. 220 V shore power plug inside companionway, Marine rated 80amp Battery charger/1500 watt inverter. Four x 220 volt outlets. three x 12 V outlets. Five electric fans.

11. Steering.
Manual tiller on aft deck with simple external removable steering wires running along deck into cockpit to external/internal GOIOT (or custom manufacture) wheel on forward starboard cockpit bulkhead. Internal fold down steering seat under bubble as original Joshua. Steel framed rudder and bearings as per CE and provided plan.

12. Sails.
The following JOSHUA GGOD Class sails are included with the standard JOSHUA. Fully batten Dacron Mainsail with Rutgerson fittings with three reefs, Fully Batten Mizzen Rutgerson fittings two reefs, lazy-jack stacking boom covers, Hanked staysail, Storm jib, Heavy No 1 furling Genoa.
